The Dodecanese
is a unique complex of islands in the southeast part of the Aegean
Sea. The Dodecanese are a group of islands in the southeast part
of the Aegean. The 12 main islands are Rhodes, Karpathos, Kos,
Kalymnos, Astypalea, Kasos, Tilos, Symi, Leros, Nissiros, Patmos
and, Kastelorizo. Each island has its own beauties and sights
to see, the Castle of the Knight's Templar in Rhodes (a Unesco
Heritage Site), the monastery of St John of the Apocalypse in
Patmos, the Asklipeion of Kos, the volcano of Nissiros to name
but a few of the extremely varied and fascinating archaeological
and natural sites that can be visited.
The islands of the
Dodecanese offer a unique combination of cosmopolitan night -
life and quiet fishing villages, idyllic beaches and ancient sites
redolent with history and mythology.
